Pontiac GTO

Wikipedia
Classic car Pontiac GTO was built by General Motors Holden in Australia from 2004 to 2005. However, General Motors is not the first to build this muscle car. It was a car built by Pontiac from 1964 to 1974.

However, there are some important differences in both models Pontiac GTO this company. The main one is - General Motor's Pontiac GTO is a left-hand drive Holden Monaro, itself a coupe variant of the Holden Commodore; wherein the old Pontiac closely related to the Pontiac Tempe’s most of the time and Pontiac Ventura at later times.

First Generation Models
In its existence, GTO went through some changes in almost all dimensions together with its design. The first Pontiac GTO (1964) was an option package for the Pontiac LeMans, available with the two-door sedan, hardtop coupe and convertible body styles. After that, a couple of other variants made available to 1968. All of these models can be called the first generation GTO.

Second Generation Models
The second generation GTO emergence of General Motors. GM redesigned its A-body line for 1968, with more curvaceous, "bustle back" fastback styling. A unique feature is the body-color Endura front bumper. It was designed to absorb impact without permanent deformation at low speeds. This second generation model existed until 1972, with some slight variations in each model.

Final Models
The latest models emerged since then. The 1973 GTO models shared their skinned A-body with its "Colonnade" hardtop styling, which was hardtop design eliminated as a result of the addition of a roof pillar, but the preservation of frameless door work. Rear side windows were now of a fixed design that could not be opened, and in a triangular shape. Fans of the original GTO considered the appropriation of a famous muscle car by a Japanese automaker to be sacrilegious

These models existed with minor modifications until 1999. The popularity appears to be decreasing day by day due to the age old technology used in the engines, even models in the 21st century. This Pontiac GTO thrown into some real tough times. In the 21st century, the time of generation was for this great model that is often called "the first true muscle car."

Revival of the Pontiac GTO
There would be no better market than the United States, which is certainly the re-launch the mother of the automotive industry, was this great example. Based on the platform of the Holden Monaro V, the Pontiac GTO was relaunched in the United States in the autumn of 2003. The Monaro is a 2-door coupe version of the Australian-developed VT / VX Holden Commodore. The Commodore was in turn developed by enlargement of the European designed 1994 Opel Omega B, which marketed in its original form in the US from 1997 to 2001 as the Cadillac Catera.

Pontiac GTO also tried her fortune with the sporty models in 2005 and 2006. Despite great expectations of the automotive legend General Motors, Pontiac GTO Sports models are not a big success. Again, critics say that the models do not sufficiently powerful engines to their caliber as 21st-century support sports models.
More than four decades later, the 2006 Pontiac GTO is the spiritual leader of modern muscle. The GTO is distinguished by revised tail lamp styling for the 2006 model year. The taillamp background is glossy black instead of red. Two new colors - Fusion Orange and Spice Red - did not offer too subtle choices for customers who want to differentiate their Goat apart from the crowd. There is also a new 18-inch wheel with spokes that further clear the model 2006 provides.

Performance is at the heart of the Pontiac GTO. A 6.0-liter LS2 V8 delivers an impressive 400 hp (298 kW) and 400 lb.-ft. of torque (542 Nm). The Hydra-Matic 4L65-E four-speed electronically controlled automatic transmission is standard, while a six-speed Tremec T56 manual transmission is optional. The awesome powertrain is capable of propelling the GTO from 0-60 in 4.7 seconds and 13-second quarter mile times.

All that power is matched by the equally impressive braking power of a four-wheel disc performance braking package with vented front rotors, solid rear rotors and bright red brake calipers with the GTO logo.
Critics on Pontiac GTO's.

From the moment of the first generation GTO, critics are not impressed by these models. Most of them say that the engines are not the advanced technologies of their time. Some critics even went further and said that one of the models of the GTO are 5 years in terms of technology compared to their peers.
Despite all these criticisms, Pontiac GTO is a really good success which is quite evident from the length of more than 35 years. And, the future looks bright for this model open as new markets for models like Pontiac GTO.

Pontiac GTO tries her luck in Australia, with over six variants. The most exciting part of the GTO models are their colors. Each year, GTO adds at least 2 to 3 colors to its range, especially to attract the youth population in the direction of the model.
